Last week I devoured my copy of Tiny Pretty Things by Sonia Charaipotra and Dhonielle Clayton and I completely loved everything about it. (You can read my full review here.) I’ve been wanting to do outfit posts inspired by books for a while but now that my bookshelves are finally up and running, I feel like I have the background I envisioned and so my “book looks” outfits are commencing! Tiny Pretty Things is about a bunch of cutthroat ballerinas and if you were anywhere near as obsessed with Center Stage as I was in your teenage years, I have no doubt that you’ll also love this book. I cannot stress how much I truly enjoyed the story, loving and loving to hate the characters, theorizing about the ending and now I’m left dying for it’s sequel Shiny Broken Pieces which comes out on July 12th!
Black Swan meets Pretty Little Liars in this soapy, drama-packed novel featuring diverse characters who will do anything to be the prima at their elite ballet school.
Gigi, Bette, and June, three top students at an exclusive Manhattan ballet school, have seen their fair share of drama. Free-spirited new girl Gigi just wants to dance—but the very act might kill her. Privileged New Yorker Bette’s desire to escape the shadow of her ballet star sister brings out a dangerous edge in her. And perfectionist June needs to land a lead role this year or her controlling mother will put an end to her dancing dreams forever. When every dancer is both friend and foe, the girls will sacrifice, manipulate, and backstab to be the best of the best. (via Goodreads)
I am just smitten with the new styles in Melissa’s collaboration with Karl Lagerfeld for Summer 2015 shoes. I adore the Violatta flat gladiator type sandals with perfectly placed pearls. They’re so chic! They could definitely be dressed up or worn casual to add a polished touch to a casual summer ensemble. I also love the Ultragirl flats in white which have a cat head with big eyes adorning the toes. They’re so so cute! The Pearl heels are lovely as well but I wouldn’t opt to buy them since I can’t see myself being able to walk comfortably in them for extended periods of time or on the uneven concrete streets of NYC. All in all, it’s a great collection! I remember how much I loved their collaboration last year which resulted in glittery pink heels with ice cream cones on the backs (in fact, there are still a few pairs on sale on their website!).
Part of my getting-back-into-SuperSpaceChick-blogging-initiative includes the introduction of Outfit of the Day posts. I’m always getting tons of questions about my clothing when I post photos on instagram, so I thought it would be easier to share more details in one simple place. For my first outfit, I chose to wear this beautiful stained glass window dress which recreates the gorgeous ending of Beauty and the Beast. The dress is full of striking colors and it fits perfectly. It’s part of BlackMilk’s Disney collection, and it’s still available to order online. I also chose to take photos in front of my new bookshelf because Belle, books, enchanted roses, etc. I used my enchanted rose replica which a close friend of mine surprised me with while we were visiting Disney World in March. I also took a few photos with my Lumiere Funko but despite loving the figure, I wasn’t thrilled with either of the photos, so you can only spot him in the background on my bookshelf in one of the photos below. The castle ring was purchased at Spooky Empire when I visited Kristin a few years ago, but I’m sure there are similar ones on Etsy. For links to everything that’s still available, scroll down ^_^
