Living Dead’s newest collection is based on Cardcaptor Sakura and I am over the moon about it! Clothing is a huge part of Sakura’s life and I love that there are so many styles based on many of the outfits she dons in the anime / manga. My favorite dress in the collection is the Cardcaptor skater because it’s based on the most iconic of Sakura’s outfits. In case you haven’t noticed, I kind of love the color pink and I really love the bow on the front and the little angel wings on the back on the dress. My favorite pair of leggings are the Star Wand leggings because I love the soft pearlized pink coloring and Sakura’s Star Wand is my favorite that she uses. There are plenty of other beautiful styles as well but I’m hoping to at least get one of these to wear to an anime convention in the future! The full line can be viewed in Living Dead’s online store!
My favorite LUSH collection is always the Christmas collection but the Valentine’s Day collection is a close second. This year the collection is called Lush Crush and I’m most excited that it includes another unicorn horn. The Prince Charming shower cream is also definitely on my list since it’s a blend of pomegranate and vanilla which sounds heavenly! To view the full set and links for each of the products below you can see it on Polyvore.
I feel like I often end up writing about Too Faced products on Makeup Monday’s but their products are my favorites so I can’t help it! One of the newest additions to their line of cosmetics is the Peanut Butter and Jelly palette. It’s a new mini palette and it’s actually scented! This palette is exclusive to Ulta and it’s being released in February. It has a total of 9 eye shadow shades- Jelly, Peanut Brittle and Bananas being my favorites- and I love love love the package design. It looks like a kawaii PB&J emoji. The Peanut Butter and Jelly eyeshadow palette will retail for $36 so it’s also pretty affordable which is nice!
When I was a little middle schooler, Kate Spade and Tiffany & Co. were my intro into the world of fashion and brands. Since I’ve gotten older and wiser I’ve stopped caring about wearing designer clothes and having designer accessories but one thing that’s stayed consistent is my love of Kate Spade. I lost touch with the brand for a bit in high school but it was reinvigorated with new designs during my college years and I found myself lusting after her products once again. I love that Kate Spade often offers my favorite color (light pink) and her products are timeless and classy with a modern twist. There is currently a whole lot of stuff from her recent collections that I would love to add to my own closet so my most recent Polyvore set is a wish list of those items. You can view it in full on Polyvore to see the detailed product pages for each item.
I came across the cutest Sailor Moon luggage, carry ons and passport covers ever and I’ve been swooning over them ever since. The accessories incorporate everything I love about fashion. They’re pastel colored, they’re detailed with bows, and even the inside lining is covered in moonsticks. My favorite of the sets are the bags styled after Sailor Jupiter because mint green and pastel pink are my aesthetic. I’m really hoping I’ll be able to buy these online without spending hundreds of dollars for it on eBay! Japan always gets the best merchandise. For even more photos you can see everything on the Sailor Moon Collectibles website.
One of the biggest events in the fashion world every year (besides fashion week of course) is when Pantone announces the official colors of the upcoming year. I don’t take it very seriously, it’s really more of a fun thing but since I went to fashion school, it’s a thing I look forward to nonetheless. The colors chosen are always prevalently used in clothing lines, determine makeup trends and generally influence a lot more consumer products than you would ever imagine. I was thrilled when Pantone announced the colors of 2016 because they’re two of my absolute favorites; Rose Quartz (which is a pastel pink) and Serenity (which is a pastel periwinkle / sky blue blend). I’m really into pastel colors, especially lately, so I’m ecstatic to buy some more clothing in those colors! Sephora also recently released a collection celebrating the colors and I’m planning on buying the Rose Quartz lipstick and the eyeshadow palette after Christmas.
While this lipstick comes in the same texture and finish as Rose Quartz, this version of the lipstick is even more daring, yet delicate thanks to its Serenity hue. Color it on your lips for a futuristic effect that wows the present.
In 2016, sweet hues take on a bold attitude and these matte lipsticks deliver the drama with full-color payoff. Swipe on the velvety matte texture in Rose Quartz for a femme look that’s not afraid of being unconventional.
The shades in this exclusive 15-shade pan palette are all about pleasing the eye. The shimmer and matte formulas are infused with Vitamin E to nurture lids, while the pastel and bright hues can be worn together in a variety of ways to create a visual masterpiece.
In line with its rule-breaking mantra, the six pastel hues in this lip gloss set are anything but understated. A swipe of the melt-on-your-mouth formula instantly delivers rich color and a dose of conditioning hydration. Your lips will look contemporary, smooth, and unexpected.
I can honestly say that I never thought I would live in a world where I would find the Spider-Man purse of my dreams and then not be able to afford it. Not to mention, it’s a Spider-Man purse being released by high fashion designer VALENTINO. Ladies and gentlemen, that is not a typo. Neiman Marcus describes this exclusive design as an abstract Spider-Man motif. This leather purse is crafted in Italy and officially licensed by Marvel Comics. If you happen to have an extra $4,595.00 laying around you can pre-order this beautiful accessory here (and I will be forever jealous of you). I feel like this purse pairs perfectly with one of my favorite limited series of Spider-Man comics entitled Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane which is written by Sean McKeever and illustrated by Takeshi Miyazawa. You may be thinking, really (since I am very vocally Team Gwen)? But this series is very Gwen Stacy heavy and the artwork is delightful so yes, it will forever be a favorite of mine!
My best friend Melissa moved to Texas last month and I’ve been missing her like crazy ever since. Just because there are a few states between us doesn’t mean we don’t still talk every single day (for most of the day really) and bond over things like books, fashion and boys. We’ve always known since the first day we met that our friendship is the type that lasts forever so we’ve been trying to think of ways to make an effort to “hang out” despite the distance (also see the Spines with Wines Book Club). Since we’re not physically able to see each other as frequently, we decided to start a post series called Cross Country Couture where we agree on an item of clothing we both want, each do a photoshoot in it and share our results. Our first post features the Not Your Doll vintage tee by Wildfox Couture. Since we’re both HUGE fans of Valley of the Dolls, this shirt inspired our whole idea since we simply adore the aesthetic<3
Along with today’s post, Melissa is relaunching her blog (finally!). She’s witty and wonderful and you should go read everything she’s ever posted immediately, including, of course, the other half of the Not Your Dolls photoshoot.
Wedding planning is well underway and I’m so happy to say that I’ve already found my dress and the dresses for my bridesmaids. Accomplishing those major milestones has allowed me to move on to accessorizing. My mom told me about this pair of Jimmy Choo Cinderella shoes she came across on Facebook (she’s a recent FB addict now that she has an iPad) and I have never been so blown away by a fancy pair of footwear. Unfortunately, they retail at the outrageous price of $4,595 which is something I could never afford (and quite frankly, if I suddenly happened into $5K I wouldn’t be able to justify spending it on a single pair of shoes). They’re covered in Swarovski crystals and they have just the right amount of show stopping sparkle. Luckily, one of my most crafty bridesmaids Kristin is convinced that she can make something similar for a much lower price! I was so overcome with joy when she texted me about it but I made her swear that it wouldn’t be too much work before admitting that I would love to wear something similar.
This past Tuesday, Margaret Stohl’s newest YA book, Forever Red, debuted in stores and it’s a pretty special one because it’s all about the origin of Black Widow. If you haven’t picked up a copy yet, you can purchase one here :-) The publisher sent me a finished copy of the book along with some special props including a Black Widow wig, a S.H.I.E.L.D. comic, and a dagger. I knew I had to throw together a little casual cosplay with what I was sent and I had a blast channeling Natasha. I love the cover and I can’t wait to read my copy! Margaret Stohl is going on a book tour for Forever Red and you can find out if she’ll be in a town near you by viewing her schedule. Here’s a synopsis of the book followed by my outfit / casual cosplay photos!
