Fashion Find: Wonder Woman Cosmetic Cases

I was so thrilled when London Soho New York reached out to me to see if I wanted to review their new line of Wonder Woman cosmetic bags and I’m pleased to say that upon opening the parcel they sent me, I fell completely in love with each of the products they sent me.  This limited edition line is exclusive to Walgreens and they’ll be available starting in May of 2016.  While the overall outside aesthetic of the bags are really appealing, it’s the details that really won me over.  My favorite piece in the line is the clear case with the Wonder Woman logo on the front because I love the little cape! The blue star background isn’t part of the case but I’ll be keeping that insert in because I like the way it looks there.  Each case has beautiful gold mirror star zippers and gold trim which matches the accessories Diana wears with her costume.  I also love the blue star lining in the other two cases (each of these are a satin material and they’re part of the case).  The biggest case is perfect for storing lesser used eye shadows, while the other two are perfect to throw in your purse when you’re on the go.  I’m even planning on using the adorable tags (seen in the first photo) as bookmarks! Each case will retail for $7.99 – $11.99 so they’re really affordable and it’s easy to justify picking each of them up.

Book Look OOTD: Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson

This summery outfit is ideal for today because I have the day off of work and in a few short hours I’ll be leaving to go to my Bachelorette Party! The girls (and guys – Andrew and I decided to have a combined Bachelor / Bachelorette party) rented a house on a beach and I’m so excited for our weekend of board games, beach bummin’ and wine drinking.

As soon as I got this ice cream cone shirt from Wildfox (another design that’s made for little girls) I knew it would be the perfect book look for Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson since the main character Emily spends some of her summer working at an ice cream shop.  I also wanted to wear something on the trendier side hence the lace on my denim shorts and the fringe on my sandals because the cover models are oh so fashionable!  When I think of summer, I often think immediately of SYBG.  It has all the elements I love in YA contemporary and I definitely plan on re-reading this one<3

Book Look OOTD: The Girl at Midnight by Melissa Grey

This week’s Book Look OOTD couldn’t have come at a more perfect time.  As many of you may know, I adore Melissa Grey’s debut novel, The Girl at Midnight.  I love the story and the main character Echo and Melissa’s writing is just so lovely and engaging (full review here).  I’ve been dying to read TGaM‘s sequel, The Shadow Hour, since the moment there were no more words left for me to consume in book one and last weekend at my bridal shower (which was Harry Potter themed(!) photos to come!), Melissa brought me a copy!! I was basically jumping for joy because there’s no way I would’ve made it until July to find out what happens next.  For anyone who’s as in love with the gorgeous cover of The Girl at Midnight as I am, you’ll be pleased to know that this isn’t my first fashion + beauty related post for it.  Last year, Melissa and I teamed up and filmed a BookTube video featuring a galaxy nail tutorial (because in addition to being a fantastic author, Melissa is also a gifted nail guru).  I can’t wait to dive into my ARC and I’m getting so excited for the release because Melissa promised that there’s going to another fabulous launch party at Books of Wonder (here are some photos from last years event!).

Book Look OOTD: To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han is one of my favorite contemporary books I’ve read (full review here). In addition to the adorable story, the main character Lara Jean is also one of the most fashionable and I wish she had her own blog of outfit photos that I could follow.  Since I love the whole cover aesthetic, I definitely wanted to style an outfit inspired by it.  I received my copy of To All the Boys from my friend Michelle of Pink Polka Dot Book Blog for The Broke and the Bookish Secret Santa two years ago and Michelle is also responsible for me purchasing the darling polka dot pants in these outfit photos! She posted a Spring Break: Books, Bathing Suits & Clothes post recently and as soon as I saw those Hudson jeans, I immediately placed my order!

Make Up Monday: Sephora x Minnie Mouse Collection

I’ve been looking forward to the Minnie Mouse Collection Sephora was planning since I first heard it had been announced but now that actual images has surfaced, I’m even more excited!  My favorite item in the collection is hands down the incredible Minnie Mouse hand mirror. I NEED IT.  There’s actually not a ton of items in the collection that I feel that way about besides the mirror and the lipstick but overall I think they’ve done a great job with all of the packaging.  I really love the design of the compact mirror and how it folds out to reveal Minnie’s signature ears and bow and the imprint on the blush.  The collection will be available at Sephora this month and the prices range from $15 to $58.

Book Look OOTD: Tiny Pretty Things

Last week I devoured my copy of Tiny Pretty Things by Sonia Charaipotra and Dhonielle Clayton and I completely loved everything about it.  (You can read my full review here.)  I’ve been wanting to do outfit posts inspired by books for a while but now that my bookshelves are finally up and running, I feel like I have the background I envisioned and so my “book looks” outfits are commencing! Tiny Pretty Things is about a bunch of cutthroat ballerinas and if you were anywhere near as obsessed with Center Stage as I was in your teenage years, I have no doubt that you’ll also love this book.  I cannot stress how much I truly enjoyed the story, loving and loving to hate the characters, theorizing about the ending and now I’m left dying for it’s sequel Shiny Broken Pieces which comes out  on July 12th!

Black Swan meets Pretty Little Liars in this soapy, drama-packed novel featuring diverse characters who will do anything to be the prima at their elite ballet school.

Gigi, Bette, and June, three top students at an exclusive Manhattan ballet school, have seen their fair share of drama. Free-spirited new girl Gigi just wants to dance—but the very act might kill her. Privileged New Yorker Bette’s desire to escape the shadow of her ballet star sister brings out a dangerous edge in her. And perfectionist June needs to land a lead role this year or her controlling mother will put an end to her dancing dreams forever. When every dancer is both friend and foe, the girls will sacrifice, manipulate, and backstab to be the best of the best. (via Goodreads)

Fashion Find: Wildfox Land Mermaid Collection

I’ve been so excited about Spring fashion, particularly because my favorite colors are “in” this season, so there’s been many opportunities to expand my wardrobe.  I made up a name for the collection of merchandise I’ll be spotlighting today but all of the pieces of apparel below are part of the Fairytale collection (in case you find yourself browsing the Wildfox website).   I love all the cute sayings on these mermaid themed pieces.  My favorite is the angry mermaid – “I traded my tail for this?!” but I also really love the “my collection” pink sweatshirt.  I can tell you firsthand that Wildfox apparel is some of the most comfortable and well made on the market! I basically live in their Malibu pants and t-shirts from past collections.  I’m hoping to infuse my wardrobe with some more of these pieces soon ^.^

Outfit of the Day: Cherry Blossom Festival<3

It’s become somewhat of a tradition for me to post photos from the Sakura Matsuri festival at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens one year late.  Maybe this will be the year that I post photos in a timely manner!  Last year, Andrew and I started our day at Sundaes and Cones which has amazing ice cream. I had gotten scoops of black sesame and lavender in a cone and I donned one of my favorite ModCloth dresses to match the cherry blossoms.  Overall, it was a lovely day!

Fashion Finds: Kate Spade Carnival Collection

I have once again fallen deeply in love with a Kate Spade collection but this one speaks to me more than any others have in the past.  It has EVERYTHING I look for in accessories and I’ve admittedly already ordered a bunch of these items because this is one of those collections that I love so much that I couldn’t possibly leave it up to chance by waiting for a sale and hoping what I wanted was still in stock.   It screams summer in a pastel dream world kind of way and I just need it in my life.  One of the things I love but haven’t been able to justify is the flavor of the month ice cream truck clutch.  That’s one I’ll hope to get on sale at some point but I can’t imagine I would wear that anywhere near enough for the full price to be worth it.  Anyway, here are my favorites / things I’ve already splurged on! You can click on the collage below for links to all of the products shown.

Makeup Monday: Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette

I’ve been LUSTING after the Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette ever since it began being teased on Instagram and it’s finally (almost) here!  The palette already debuted on but it sold out within minutes.  Luckily, it’s going to be released online at Ulta (3/20), HSN (3/23), Sephora (3/29) and Macy’s (3/29) and in store by Ulta on April 9th and Sephora on April 15th so there are still two more opportunities to snag your own.  The palette smells like peaches and it contains 18 different shades that are just peachy keen!  There’s a nice mix of peachy pinks, bronzes, corals and a even a purple.  The names are quite clever: White Peach, Luscious, Just Peachy, Bless Her Heart (love that one!), Tempting, Charmed, I’m Sure, Nectar, Cobbler, Candied Peach, Bellini, Peach Pit, Delectable, Peaches n Cream, Georgia, Caramelized, Puree, Summer Yum and Talk Derby to Me.  The palette retails for $49 and it’s limited editions so you’ll have to get your quick buying fingers ready when it shows up at the retailer of your choice.
