Minamoto Kitchoan

After dim sum with Andrew, we met Melissa at Kinokuniya and then headed to the Nintendo Store and this adorable Japanese bakery that I’ve been wanting to try for a few months now!  It’s called Minamoto Kitchoan and it’s located on the upper eastern side of Midtown on Fifth Avenue.

Minamoto Kitchoan is an authentic Japanese bakery that is full of mouthwatering desserts.  It can get rather expensive if you’re splurging for boxes of items, but if you buy single desserts it doesn’t break the bank.  One of my favorite desserts I tried and ended up purchasing is a red bean paste sandwiched between two pancakes.  We also tried Mille-Feuille which is sort of like a Kit Kat but with a thinner wafer and more layers of chocolate.  Lastly we got a delicious Mochi that was filled with milk chocolate and coated in cookie crumbles.

My favorite thing I saw there were the Usagisan which I didn’t get to try but OMG a dessert shaped like bunnies!!!

Everything about this place looks really cute – what lovely presents these deserts would make! I wonder if my local China town has a bakery similar to this?

They look so cute! There’s an Asian supermarket near me that sell all candies and the like super cheap. I’ll have to see if they have any yummy desserts next time!
